Charles Worsley
Charles Nathanial Worsley RBA was a professional artist who was born in Devonshire and studied in London, Antwerp and Paris. He made frequent sketching and painting trips in England and Europe. He began exhibiting at the Royal Institute for Artists in 1887 and then at the R.A. in 1889. His travels were extensive throughout Europe between 1893 and 1895 exhibiting at the Paris Salon as well as in England. In 1896 he left for Australia with his wife and then moved to New Zealand in 1898 where he initially settled in Gisborne. From 1898 till 1903 Worsley exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, the CSA and OAS.
