Frank Auger

Interest in art for Auger started in high school, extending into after school hours with his art teacher where time was absorbed over reproductions of old masters.  Auger was further educated at the Kingston College of Art in London majoring in painting (1964 - 1968) and at the London University Institute of Education receiving art teaching qualification.  Auger notes “many of my paintings start in a free abstract way with a build up of colour as an under painting.  Then I stop and consider which direction to go by working from some of the forms in the under painting.  I frequently stop, consider, then proceed again... it is like a revelation and I see the direction in which to go.  Design and good colour are more important to me than representation, realism and perspective, which I sometimes twist”.  Augers hope is that folk will get pleasure from his paintings.
