Elizabeth Kelly

Kelly has been described as a leading highly professional artist in her generation.  For a time she was influenced and taught by Van der Velden, later traveling in England and France, exhibiting in many galleries overseas.  Kelly was represented at the Royal Academy and awarded in the Paris Salon with the Societie des Artists Francais.  In 1938 she was awarded Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire C.B.E.  She was the first New Zealand woman artist to receive such an award.
